Emile Smith Rowe offers Arsenal insight into transfer secrecy amid Oleksandr Zinchenko £32m move

Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe has admitted the players get 'excited' hearing about potential incoming signings joining the club.

The Gunners have completed four summer signings so far in the transfer window, with Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner all joining the club. Jesus has made an instant impact for the north Londoners, scoring twice against Nurnberg and then bagging another goal against Everton as Arsenal continue their pre-season tour of America.

football.london understands Oleksandr Zinchenko is expected to become the Gunners' fifth summer signing and seal a £32million move to the Emirates after agreeing personal terms. Smith Rowe has given an interesting insight into how the players react to hearing transfer rumours of potential incoming signings, as well as an update on his fitness ahead of the 2022/23 season and Qatar World Cup later this year.

Speaking to SkySports, Smith Rowe discussed how the mood is in the Arsenal camp and if the players hear anything about new signings prior to the club announcing them. The 21-year-old said: “To be fair, we never know anything until it’s announced.

"We don’t actually hear or see anything or anyone. But it is always exciting to hear it when it all comes out. We never know, we’re waiting for it come up on the TV and then that’s when we know.”

Smith Rowe continued by discussing his plans ahead of the 2022/23 season, discussing the 2022 Qatar World Cup and offering an update on his fitness. The Arsenal star said: "It's definitely a kid's dream to play in a World Cup. For me, I just want to get fit as soon as possible so I can be back playing with my teammates.

"Obviously, the World Cup is a big thing that I want to achieve this season. We're [Arsenal] in the Europa League and we'll try to do as well as we can in that, hopefully win it, and just improve week in, week out."
