Emile Smith Rowe has broken his silence on his latest injury setback after Arsenal confirmed that he has undergone surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his groin. The news comes at a bad time for Mikel Arteta, who is preparing his side to face arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
A statement released on Arsenal.com read: "In recent months, Emile Smith Rowe has been experiencing discomfort in his groin, which has limited his training and match appearances.
"Following a significant setback at our Premier League match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 4, and after further specialist consultations and discussions with our medical team, Emile underwent surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his groin.

"This successful surgery took place in London in the past few days and Emile’s rehabilitation programme is already underway. We are hopeful that Emile will return to full training in December. Everyone at the club will now be supporting and working hard with Emile to get him back on the pitch as soon as possible."
Arsenal had a message for the youngster on Twitter, too, as they tweeted: "Back stronger, Emile." It was accompanied with a love heart emoji, something that Smith Rowe has since responded to with a love heart of his own.
The Englishman has endured a stop-start beginning to the new season, but he'll be hoping that the surgery went well, so he can kick-on from his impressive form last year.
