Emerson call made, attacking change - The Tottenham team Antonio Conte should pick vs AC Milan

Following back-to-back defeats against Sheffield United and Wolves, Antonio Conte desperately needs his Tottenham team to rediscover their shooting boots if they want to continue in this season's Champions League. Facing AC Milan in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie, Spurs go into the encounter needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit.

Performing well at the San Siro but really struggling in a creative sense, creativity wasn't the issue at Molineux on Saturday as the team spurned a number of good openings. That must be put right against the Rossoneri or else it will be two cup exits in the space of a week for Conte and his men.

So who exactly will the Italian name in his Tottenham XI on his return to the dugout? Our football.london Tottenham reporters have named the teams they believe he will select below.

After two matches without scoring, the returning Antonio Conte has to change something up for this crunch Champions League tie.

The back three looks to be set with Eric Dier suspended and that could grant Ivan Perisic another start at left wing-back with Ben Davies already indisposed behind him. Emerson Royal could come in for Pedro Porro on the right.

Conte might be tempted to bring the fresh legs of Pape Matar Sarr in, but if both have recovered well enough he may well stick with Oliver Skipp alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Up front is where the Italian is likely to have more decisions to make with Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski all struggling to find the net at Molineux on Saturday. So did Richarlison and Lucas Moura at under-strength Championship side Sheffield United in midweek.

The only person who has not been given an opportunity is Arnaut Danjuma and he scored six goals in the Champions League last season but the Netherlands international does not appear to be trusted yet to start a match.

Gold's team: Forster; Romero, Lenglet, Davies; Emerson, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Perisic; Richarlison, Kane, Son

Rob Guest - Tottenham Hotspur reporter

Although they did lose at Wolves last Saturday, Antonio Conte could quite easily name the same starting XI for the Champions League clash vs AC Milan. Pedro Porro performed well at Molineux and the European games may suit him a bit more rather than Premier League fixtures.

Spurs are also going to need to offer plenty in attack and quality in the final third due to AC Milan's lead, thus giving Conte another reason to start the new signing over the in-form Emerson Royal. Tottenham have yet to see the best of Ivan Perisic and he is perhaps very lucky that Eric Dier is suspended for the tie as that means Ben Davies will play in the back three rather than taking the Croat's wing-back berth.

In attack, Son Heung-min looked more like his old self at Wolves minus the finishing touch and he will get the nod over Richarlison on the left of the front three. Dejan Kulusevski is perhaps the player more susceptible to dropping out of the XI for the Brazilian but Spurs are going to need his eye for the pass and quality as they look to find a way past the Rossoneri.
