One taken to hospital as emergency services called to Scotswood Road after two car collision

Emergency services were called to Scotswood Road in Newcastle this morning after a two-car collision.

The collision occurred at the junction between Scotswood Road, William Armstrong Drive and Violet Close at around 9am on Friday morning (March 3).

According to Northumbria Police, there were no serious injuries. However, one person was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9.15am today (Friday) police received a report of a collision involving two cars on Scotswood Road near to the business park.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene where thankfully no serious injuries have been reported."

Two vehicles from the North East Ambulance Service were on the scene, and a statement from the North East Ambulance Service read: "We were called at 9:10 this morning to a two car road traffic collision on Scotswood Road, Newcastle.

"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and a rapid response paramedic. One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary."

A Tyne and Wear Fire Service spokesperson said: "We can confirm we attended Scotswood Road after concerns that a vehicle was on fire following a collision. We attended the scene but it there was no fire and no requirement for fire and rescue services. We left the scene a short time later."

North East Ambulance Service were approached for comment.
