Two hospitalised as taxi crashes into Enniskillen service station

Two people have been brought to hospital after an incident in Enniskillen where a taxi is believed to have crashed through the door of a service station.

The condition of the two injured parties is unknown at this time, according to police.

The incident took place at the shop on Queen Street in the Co Fermanagh town, next to the PSNI station, with emergency services attending at the scene.

Emergency services including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance charity and the PSNI were attending the scene on Friday morning.

Footage widely shared on social media shows the vehicle inside the service station.

In a statement the PSNI said the driver of the vehicle and a pedestrian were injured in the crash.

"Police in Enniskillen received a report of a one vehicle road traffic collision at 10.40am this morning, Friday June 16th on Queen Street. Air Ambulance was in attendance," the statement said.

"The driver of the vehicle and a pedestrian were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries, the extent of which at this time are unknown.

"There are no further details at this time."

A spokesperson for NIAS said it had taken one of the injured parties to hospital following the crash.

"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 10:33 on Friday, 16 June 2023 following reports of an incident in the Queen Street Area, Enniskillen.

"Two Ambulances, One Rapid Response Paramedic and Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board were tasked to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to South West Acute Hospital by Ambulance."
