As No. 2 Michigan continues to navigate Jim Harbaugh’s suspension, the team received a bit of good news on Saturday after reaching a major milestone with a 31–24 road win over Maryland.
The undefeated Wolverines (11–0), led by interim coach and offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore, toppled to the Terrapins to make NCAA history by becoming the first college football program to notch 1,000 all-time wins.
Michigan’s latest victory came in a back-and-forth game that saw it preserve its flawless 8–0 conference mark while keeping Moore 2–0 in his expected three-game stint in Harbaugh’s absence. Despite taking a 16–3 lead in the first quarter, the Wolverines survived a second-half Maryland surge (14–0 in the third quarter) en route to giving up a season-high 24 points.

With another spot in the history books now solidified, Michigan will next prepare for its regular season finale, where it will look to secure its 18th undefeated season with a win over heated rival, No. 3 Ohio State (10–0).
For now, though, the Wolverines, with a now 1,000-353-36 all-time record, can bask in the glory of standing tall atop the list of the NCAA’s all-time winningest programs.
