Elvis Presley's Graceland was 'forever changed' by girlfriend Linda Thompson

Linda Thompson may have only been dating Elvis Presley for a matter of months before moving into his Graceland home, but she quickly got to work injecting her own personality into the mansion.

The couple first met in July 1972 just months after Elvis separated from his wife Priscilla Presley.

Linda was blown away by how "sexy" Elvis was and they quickly developed a passionate relationship which blossomed into a loving companionship.

Elvis and Linda were together for four years, during which time the model added her own character into the now historic landmark.

Sharing a series of pictures from inside the mansion on Instagram, Linda revealed which features she added.

"I designed the stained glass peacocks leading into the music room, the climbing roses, and 'P' stained glass at the front door," she wrote after taking a tour of Graceland back in 2015.

Linda also decorated some of the downstairs rooms in Graceland and added her own touches to the Jungle Room.

She said these were all designed with "Elvis' unique taste in mind".

"Rarefied memories were made at Graceland," the actress added.

According to Graceland's official website, the stained glass work cost almost $10,000 (£8,120).

"The stained-glass peacock panels between the Living Room and Music Room, as well as the stained glass around the front door and the stained-glass fixtures over the pool table in the basement were added to Graceland in October 1974.

"The work was done for Elvis by Laukhuff Stained Glass Company of Memphis for the cost of $9,345," the website read.

Linda eventually broke things off with Elvis in December 1976, as she admitted she was "tired" of caring for him through his deteriorating health.

She previously told the Daily Mail: "I struggled to accept the other women as I was faithful, but I was so addicted to loving him that I lost myself and what I wanted while he was addicted to drugs - they were his true mistress.

"I was exhausted caring for him — it was like looking after a newborn baby. I was scared he would die on my watch.

"When I asked him to reduce his medication, he’d say: 'Don’t worry about me, honey, I’m going to live till I'm 85.'"
