Elton John and Charli XCX among stars to perform gigs at new Apple Music venue in Battersea Power Station

Elton John is set to be the first artist to perform at the new Apple Music Hall in Battersea Power Station.

The Rocket Man performer will take to the stage on the new south London music venue’s opening night on September 28.

Other famous artists who also set to perform there include Charli XCX, Baby Keem, Skye Newman Troye Sivan, Arlo Parks, Burna Boy, and Chase & Status.

Tickets for the first three shows at the venue will go on sale on Monday, September 28 at 9am.

In a press release, Apple said the intimate 600-capacity space was designed “intentionally to close the gap between intimacy and production value and allow for an unprecedented level of creative control.”

The venue will feature a 38-foot-wide stage that can be reconfigured for traditional front-facing sets or more in-the-round experiences, as well as a 48-speaker spatial sound system positioned all around the audience.

Behind the stage, Apple said the venue will operate a full production facility, with two dedicated recording and mix studios to capture every performance as a multitrack recording.

The venue is also hardwired for 16 or more cameras that will feed a purpose-built broadcast control room, supporting iPhone video capture running in parallel alongside traditional broadcast cameras.

"Apple Music Hall is a fantastic venue, like nothing fans will have ever seen before," said Mazin Tappuni, a managing director at independent UK promoter Communion ONE who have partnered with Apple for the project.

"The production quality is world class, livestreaming to fans across the world, from a live room where every square foot has the artist and their fans in mind,” they added.

Live events at Apple Music Hall will be powered by DICE ticketing platform.
