Els Enfarinats: Revelers battle with flour and eggs in traditional Spanish festival

Revellers from the southeastern Spanish town of Ibi celebrated a quirky 200-year-old festival known as Els Enfarinats.

The small town is famous for its centuries-old 'Els Enfarinats' celebration.

Revellers dress in military-style costumes to stage a mock 'coup' and take over power in the town until sunset.

Anyone caught breaking the rules must pay a fine, with all proceeds donated to charity.

The festival is believed to be over 200 years old.

Els Enfarinats remains one of Spain’s most curious and enduring winter traditions, mixing satire, mess, and community spirit in equal measure.
