Elon Musk has been making headlines after buying Twitter for a modest $44 billion cash on Monday.
The billionaire Tesla founder teased a new potential takeover target on the site and jokingly tweeted that he is "buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in" in relation to the soft drink’s original recipe and its use as a tonic for assorted maladies.
Since it's posting last night the sensational tweet has racked up over 2.5m likes and Glaswegians - and Scots in general - have jumped on the chance to put in their own requests.
Perfectly, they are calling on the worlds richest man and to fork out the cash to buy the nation's prized Irn Bru over coca cola - and to put the sugar back in as well, GlasgowLive reports.
One person responded to his viral tweet with: "No, all joking aside... if you could buy Irn Bru and put the sugar back in... that be great. Thanks, Scotland."
Another responded with: "Gonnae buy Irn Bru and put the sugar back in thanks chick", while a third wrote: "I'd just be happy if you bought Irn Bru to put the sugar back in".
Joining them was another person desperate to see the full-sugar Irn Bru cans return to our shelves, who tweeted: "Can you please buy Irn Bru please Mr Musk" and then followed it up with: "pls pls pls".
And fellow fan of our other national drink suggested that if Musk did purchase the girders nectar it would make him Scottish royalty, tweeting: "[Elon Musk] Becomes king of Scotland by bringing back the Irn-Bru original recipe."
