Elon Musk Says He’ll Give Every Child in America a SpaceX Share—But How Would That Actually Work?

SpaceX shares for children
Elon Musk has pledged to give one SpaceX share to every child in America in 2027, potentially distributing more than $10 billion in stock. The shares could be delivered through Trump Accounts, although eligibility and distribution details remain unresolved. favoritesphoto/Shutterstock

Picture this: you open an investment account for your child and discover that Elon Musk has deposited a share of SpaceX stock into it, completely free of charge.

On October 19, Musk announced on X that he intends to do just that. He plans to give one of his SpaceX shares to every American child in 2027, and has described the planned giveaway as the beginning of something larger. With approximately 73 million children under 18 in the United States, the proposed SpaceX shares for children giveaway could be worth more than $10 billion at recent stock prices.
