SpaceX has a legendary guest in line to join one of its space trips.
Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton said he’s talked to SpaceX and Tesla (TSLA) founder Elon Musk about joining a SpaceX expedition and he seems to have gotten the go-signal from Musk.
“I am going, yes, at some stage,” Hamilton said during a media availability last month in preparation for the Australian Grand Prix

Hamilton, who is a seven-time Driver’s Champion in Formula 1, said he’s had Musk as a guest at his dinner parties in Austin, Texas for the last two years. It’s there that he’s conversed with the billionaire about his intention to go to outer space.
A few weeks after Hamilton mentioned his deal with Musk, SpaceX launched its Starship rocket that ended up exploding after only a few minutes. It’s no wonder Hamilton was still a bit skeptical about joining a trip in the near future.
“I’m going to let some other people go first,” Hamilton said, chuckling. “But I’m ready to go to space at any stage.”
On top of over 15 years of experience in Formula One driving cars that go over 200 miles per hour, Hamilton is also a known thrill seeker. He constantly posts videos doing high adrenaline activities like water sports or skydiving. He’s also posted in the past about his interest in outer space.
He may be a prime candidate to withstand the thrill and risk of taking a SpaceX flight to the great beyond.
