It is a widely accepted prediction that the Earth is overpopulated, with many scientists voicing their concern about what it means for the future.
Elon Musk doesn’t believe this to be the case, often citing data on Twitter that point to a decline of Western population rates over the last 50 years.
It is something the SpaceX boss is deeply concerned about and the reason he decided to have so many children.
Speaking at the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council Summit, he said: “There are not enough people, I can’t emphasise this enough. There are not enough people.
“If people don’t have more children, civilisation is going to crumble. Mark my words.”
When asked why he decided to have so many kids, he joked: “I try to set a good example. Gotta practise what I preach.”
Apparently, that good example also includes secretly fathering twins with a fellow employee.
News broke out just this week that Elon welcomed two new children into the world with an employee at Neuralink, his artificial intelligence company.
Nevada Alexander Musk
Elon’s first child tragically died when they were just 10 weeks old in 2002.
His then-wife and mother to Nevada was Canadian author Justine Wilson.
Nevada died from sudden infant death syndrome and Elon has said little about it in public.
Griffin and Xavier Musk
In 2004, Justine gave birth to twins Griffin and Xavier with help from IVF.
The twins, now 18, have remained largely out of the public eye, but his child who was formerly known as Xavier recently announced they are transitioning and now wish to be known as Vivian Jenna Wilson.
In the court documents, Vivian wrote: “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”
According to TMZ, she wants to now be known as Vivian Jenna Wilson.
Kai, Saxon and Damian Musk
After having twins together, Elon and Justine later had triplets in 2006.
It would be the last children the pair would have together, as they divorced in 2008.
The triplets are now 15 years old, with Elon sharing custody with Justine after the divorce.
Once again, Elon has never publicly commented on the situation with his three sons.
X Æ A-Xii
The most famous of Elon’s children and for good reason, X Æ A-Xii has one of the must unique names of any celebrity child.
The son of Elon and musician Grimes was originally going to be named X Æ A-12.
However, the name had to be changed as it was not in accordance with Californian law, which prohibits the use of symbols such as Æ and numbers like 12.
The new name is pronounced Ex Ash A Twelve.
For a while, followers of the couple had no clue what the name actually meant, until Grimes clarified its meaning on Twitter.
She wrote: “X, the unknown variable. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence).
“A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favourite aircraft). No weapons, no defences, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent.
“+ (A=Archangel, my favourite song) (metal rat).”
Exa Dark Sideræl Musk
Elon’s newest addition to the Musk dynasty is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, the second child he shares with Grimes.
Born in March 2022, the child is known as Y, with her older brother X Æ A-Xii simply being known as X.
According to Vanity Fair, Exa comes from the computing term exaFlops, giving the child its unique name.
According to Grimes, Sideræl on the other hand means: “The true time of the universe, star time, deep space time, not our relative earth time."
Surprise twins
Court documents obtained by Insider have revealed that Elon is actually the father of nine, not seven, as he welcomed twins into the world in 2021.
He shares them with Shivon Zilis, 36, an executive at Neuralink, his artificial intelligence company.
The documents allegedly state that the pair tried to change the children's names to “have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name”.
The twins are believed to have been born in November, though their names have not been revealed.
