Elon Musk revealed that he slept in his car while heading to meet French president Emmanuel Macron at his official residence in Paris on Monday.
The billionaire was seated opposite Macron in one of the Elysee Palace’s gilded rooms, and he joked that he had to ‘sleep in the car’ on Sunday after a night of partying in remarks caught on camera before their meeting.
His appointment with the president came less than 48 hours after the Tesla CEO had been spotted with festivalgoers at a trance music event in Los Angeles on Saturday.
In a statement after the meeting with the president the Elysee said the meeting covered several topics of common interest, notably the European response to the US Inflation Reduction Act and the progress France has made in attracting investment and improving the outlook for electric vehicles and energy.
Macron added in a tweet: “We have so much to do together.”
Musk attended a roundtable about ‘Green Industrialisation’ later in the afternoon and a dinner with the other CEOs.
France previously tried to convince Musk to build a European gigafactory in the country, but he chose Germany for his only European gigafactory so far.
Last week the Twitter boss revealed how he’s hired her to take over from him as the social media network’s chief executive officer.
Musk, who bought Twitter in October 2022, tweeted: “Excited to announce that I’ve a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in 6 weeks!
“My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO (chief technology officer), overseeing product, software & sysops.”
