Elon Musk has urged shoppers to 'just take a picture of your credit card' and send it to his Grok AI bot to buy items online, triggering privacy warnings, mockery and fresh questions over payment security.

On Saturday 10 October 2026, the billionaire told X users they could simply upload a photo of their credit card to Grok Bot, an AI assistant designed to carry out tasks such as shopping. His follow-up LEGO shopping demonstration then appeared to reveal checkout details in a publicly shared screenshot.
