Ella Toone says there is "no point" in Man Utd getting nervous ahead of an exciting finale to the WSL season.
Toone has played a key role in United's surprise title challenge, with Marc Skinner's side four points clear with just four games to play ahead of the run-in. Second-placed Chelsea do have two games in hand, with Arsenal and Man City also still in contention, while Toone and her teammates will also meet the Blues in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley next month.
A 1-0 win over Arsenal last week kept United in the driving seat, although the game was marred by England captain Leah Williamson suffering an ACL injury that rules her out of the World Cup. Speaking on Soccer AM ahead of what promises to be a thrilling finish to the season, Toone gave an insight into the mood in the United camp, with two trophies still on their radar.
"The WSL has grown so much over the years and now we've got four teams vying for the title," said Toone. "So it is really exciting. The talent we attract in the league means that anyone can beat anyone.
"It is just excitement for us really (on the mood around the team) we've worked so hard all season to put ourselves in this position.
"There is no point being nervous about it really is there? We've just got to go out there and do what we've been doing all season, putting on performances.
"We've got a big game at Wembley as well, so yeah I'm looking forward to it."
Toone, who scored in the Euro 2022 final against Germany last summer, will be vital to England's World Cup in a few months, particularly if her main competition for the No.10 position, Fran Kirby, is unable to recover from injury in time for the tournament. The Lionesses will also have to win the trophy without captain Williamson following her terrible blow against United earlier this week.
Beth Mead is also unlikely to feature for England having also suffered an ACL injury last November, although unlike Williamson she is yet to be formally ruled out. It means at least four of last summer's regular starting XI could miss Australia, with Ellen White now retired and both Kirby and Mead likely to join Williamson in missing out through injury.
"Were' all gutted for her," Toone added. "We can't wait for her to be back and we're all with her.
"She's our captain, our leader and a massive part of our Euros-winning team. We'll obviously go out there and hopefully make her as proud as we can."
