Elizabeth Olsen finally addresses rumour that she's joining House of the Dragon

Elizabeth Olsen has addressed rumours that she is set to join Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, which was officially been renewed for a second season recently.

The actor, 33 - best known for her role as Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - has been among those whom fans are hoping could appear in the HBO show.

Addressing the speculation, Elizabeth revealed she had even heard that there have been reports saying she's confirmed to be involved - though she has suggested otherwise.

She spoke about potentially joining the Game of Thrones franchise whilst attending Variety's Power of Women gala last week, where she was asked about the fan speculation.

Asked by Entertainment Tonight (ET) about fans wanting to see her in that franchise, Elizabeth said she would be open to it but wasn't sure how certain rumours had started.

She said: "I don't know how [rumours] like that get started and people think they're legitimate. [...] Dream casting is fun [but] I heard it was like announced though, which is weirder".

The actor explained that she had heard that people were claiming that it had been confirmed that she would appear in the franchise, though she dismissed this suggestion.

Asked to confirm that she's not officially in any Game of Thrones project, the award-winning actor set the record straight by responding: "I've never heard of such a thing."

Elizabeth has spoken in the past about having auditioned to play Daenerys Targaryen in the original Game of Thrones series. The role eventually went to Emilia Clarke though.

During the recent interview, the WandaVision star said she would consider joining the HBO fantasy show's prequel series - though suggested it would depend on the storyline.
