Elizabeth Hurley celebrates Holi with son Damian and Trinny Woodall in colourful Delhi festivities

Elizabeth Hurley and her son Damian joined Trinny Woodall to celebrate India’s vibrant Holi festival in Delhi, dancing as clouds of colourful powder filled the air.

The beauty entrepreneur, 62, shared clips from the celebrations on social media on Thursday, showing herself enjoying the lively Hindu spring festival alongside the actress, 60, and her director son, 23.

For the occasion, the trio wore traditional white kurta pyjamas — lightweight outfits consisting of a long shirt paired with loose drawstring trousers. White clothing is often worn during Holi celebrations as it quickly becomes splashed with colour throughout the festivities.

Hurley stood out against the all-white outfits with a bright pink patterned scarf looped around her neck, while she and Damian wore their dark hair loose.

Woodall, meanwhile, joked that she did not want to spend hours washing coloured powder out of her hair and initially wrapped it up using a blue scarf. Later in the day she wore the scarf around her neck as the celebrations continued.

Clips shared online showed crowds dancing in circles while revellers threw clouds of pink, orange, yellow and red powder into the air.

At one point Woodall was also seen tossing pink flower petals skyward as music played and people celebrated around her.

Holi is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the Hindu calendar and marks the arrival of spring. The festival is associated with love, renewal and the victory of good over evil, with communities gathering to sing, dance and celebrate together.

The colourful powder traditionally used during the festivities is known as gulal, while in some regions bonfires are lit on the eve of the festival to symbolise new beginnings.

Hurley, Damian and Woodall were not the only high-profile figures embracing the occasion.

While Holi officially took place on March 4 this year, Catherine, Princess of Wales, marked the festival a day later during a visit to Leicester.

Sporting a bright, fresh ensemble in creamy white tones, the royal was all-smiles as she met members of the city’s British-Indian community and took in some traditional Indian dancing.

Her visit highlighted the culture, heritage and community of Leicester’s British-Indian population and came the day after the Hindu festival of Holi, which celebrates spring, love, colour and new life.

The Princess was presented with a traditional flower garland known as a “mala” on arrival — a decorative strand featuring pearls and faux roses.
