Carter Nelson ranks as the No. 2 tight end in the class of 2024 and as the No. 40 overall recruit in the nation.
Out of Ainsworth, Nebraska, all signs are pointing toward Nelson staying home and playing for the Cornhuskers. But with the way Kirby Smart and Georgia have been recruiting recently, including at the tight end position, it would be unwise to fully rule the Dawgs out.
We’ll have our answers very soon. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Nelson tweeted that he will be committing on Wednesday, June 28 at 1 p.m. ET.
Nelson visited Nebraska last weekend. This month, he’s also visited Georgia (June 2), Notre Dame (June 9) and Penn State (June 16).
Georgia originally offered Nelson in February.
Commitment Wednesday at noon!! Get the word out!!

Georgia’s not necessarily hurting at the tight end position. This season, the Bulldogs’ offense will feature Brock Bowers, who is arguably America’s top playmaker. Behind Bowers is redshirt freshman Oscar Delp, the former No. 1 ranked tight end in the nation from the class of 2022. There’s also true freshmen Lawson Luckie and Pearce Spurlin, who were both four-stars and top-five tight end in the 2023 class. And in the 2025 class, Georgia has a commitment from 5-star tight end Elyiss Williams.
