Elijah Mitchell sends warning with San Francisco 49ers to be "unstoppable" in play-offs

San Francisco 49ers kick off the NFL playoffs on Saturday as they host Seattle Seahawks, and running-back Elijah Mitchell has warned NFC opposition that they'll be "unstoppable".

The 49ers finished the regular season strongly, boasting a record of 13-4 as they dominated the NFC West division. The 49ers have had one of the best defences in the league for a while, but now that their offense has clicked, they could be one to watch.

Star players Deebo Samuel and Christian McAffrey are both finally fit enough to start together, and their availability has come at the perfect time. And fresh from scoring two touchdowns, Mitchell is confident that the 49ers will be the team to watch out for.

Mitchell spoke to Mirror Sport ahead of the opening playoff weekend, and was asked about their chances now that Samuel and McAffrey are finally fit to start together. "Them two together man, they're just all round backs so with me bringing what I got, my running style to that, it's just unstoppable really."

The running-back scored two touchdowns in their 38-13 win against Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, and is feeling good ahead of the post-season. "Feeling good, body's feeling good."

"Obviously am coming off the back of two touchdowns, but I've got to give a lot of love to my guys on the edge. They blocked everything so all I have to do is just run really."

And of course, with the confidence that the 49ers are unstoppable, Mitchell is sure that they can reach the Super Bowl on February 12, and maybe even go all the way. "Oh yeah, mot definitely, no question about it."

One of the main storylines of the 49ers season has been the rise of Brock Purdy, as the rookie quarterback will now lead them into the post-season. Purdy was the last pick of the entire 2022 draft, but has won every start he's been handed, and he could instantly become a franchise legend.

Purdy is yet to lose as a starter, and he's failed to register less than two passing touchdowns per match. The playoffs may prove to be tough, but Mitchell and the whole 49ers dressing room have his back.

"Purdy, last pick in the draft to starting and doing all he's doing - he deserves it and he's going to keep proving himself, " Mitchell said. "He's a baller, Purdy is Purdy."

The 49ers have already beaten the Seahawks twice this season, but will be wary that they lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs when heading into the game with a 2-0 advantage in the regular campaign last time out. The 49ers have all the tools to progress, but playoff football doesn't always work that way.
