Electricity prices up 91% in last 12 months as cost of food skyrockets

The price of electricity in Ireland has risen by 91% in the last year, with food costs also skyrocketing in Ireland's cost of living crisis.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) published the Wholesale Price Index for June 2022 on Friday morning and it makes for grim reading for people who are already struggling to make ends meet.

On top of that, the cost of some food has risen by almost 50%, with an overall increase compared to the same time in 2021.
