Electric Picnic announce 'mystery headliner' and fans are baffled

Fans are going wild trying to guess the ‘mystery’ Electric Picnic headliner after music festival officials announced 40 new names to the lineup.

In a clever ploy to excite fans, organisers blurred out the name of the support act for The Killers on the main stage on Sunday.

Festival goers have been scratching their heads trying to solve the mystery of who could be taking up that particular coveted spot.

Our sister title, Buzz contacted organisers of the festival for comment, but it's possible that the major slot is yet to be tied down - hence the old anonymity.

Aside from that excitement, Ireland's largest music festival has announced over 40 new acts for this year's line-up.

Chief among them are Young Fathers, Mimi Webb, Ethel Cain, Viagra Boys, PinkPantheress and Johnny Marr of The Smiths alongside Irish acts including: The Murder Capital, The Mary Wallopers, King Kong Company, Fight Like Apes,Sello, Ham Sandwich, Nell Mescal, Cian Ducrot and... drum roll please... The Wolfe Tones.

They'll join headliners Billie Eilish with special guest Niall Horan, Lewis Capaldi and The Killers.

The six other major acts previously announced are: Bristol alt rockers Idles; award-winning British DJ and producer Jamie XX of The xx; Aussie punk outfit Amyl & The Sniffers; UK singer-songwriter, Tom Odell; eighties throwback Rick Astley; and Steve Lacy of The Internet fame – all of whom can be expected to have primetime slots at major stages.

The 2023 line-up for EP's 'towering temple of dance' The Terminus has also been announced, and will include Charlie Sparks, 999999999, Fionn Curran, Hannah Laing, I Hate Models, Interplanetary Criminal, Skin On Skin, southstar and TRYM.

Unfortunately, tickets for this year's festival sold out the day they went on sale. But if you still fancy it, check out official resale websites like Ticketmaster and social media closer to the time.
