Elections for all 67 seats in the Minnesota Senate will be held on November 3, 2026.
Democrats hold a 34–33 majority. If Democrats win 45 seats, they would gain a veto-proof majority. If Republicans win 34 seats, they would gain control of the Senate for the first time since 2022.
The 2022 Senate elections replaced the chamber's 34-seat Republican majority with a 34-seat Democratic majority, ending a period of Republican control that began after the 2016 elections. In 2022, Democrats won all five statewide partisan elections in Minnesota. In 2024, Democrats won the statewide elections for president and U.S. Senate as well as four of eight U.S. House elections. Republicans won the other four U.S. House elections. The most recent Minnesota Republican to win a statewide election is Tim Pawlenty (R), who was elected governor in 2006.
