Elderly woman rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' following e-scooter crash

An elderly woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving an e-scooter in Dublin's north inner city.

The incident happened at 3pm yesterday on Eccles Street, Dublin 7, when there was a crash between a pedestrian and an e-scooter. Emergency services attended the scene.

A woman aged her 80s was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. It is believed that she sustained serious injuries.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses travelling in the area to come forward, especially those with dashcam footage. They added that investigations are ongoing.

A Garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a serious road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and an e-scooter which occurred on Eccles Street, Dublin 7, yesterday afternoon 20th June 2023.

"The incident occurred at approximately 3pm. A woman (80s) was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital to be treated for what is believed to be serious injuries.

"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area with camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to the investigation team.
