Elderly man dies after car collides with his moped in Pune

PUNE: A 73-year-old retired central government employee died after a car hit his moped in front of HEMRL on Pashan service road around 4pm on June 10.

The police identified the deceased as Anil Joshi from Baner Road.

The Chatushrungi police on Friday booked a woman car driver (25), who is a final year MBA student, on the charge of causing the victim's death due to negligence.

Assistant inspector Santosh Koli said, "Joshi was riding home after meeting his relatives in Kothrud. The car driver coming from Pune-Bengaluru highway lost control over the vehicle and suddenly took a turn on the service road. The vehicle collided with the moped."

Koli said that the moped came under the wheels of the car.

The passers-by pulled out Joshi and took him to a private hospital in Baner where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment around 8.30pm, he added.
