This image shows the moment an elderly woman was knocked to the ground during an attempted mugging in south Dublin.
The shocking incident happened in broad daylight on George’s Street Upper in Dun Laoghaire at 3.30pm on Wednesday afternoon. The victim was walking along the footpath when a woman approached her from behind and grabbed her handbag.
The impact of the scuffle resulted in the elderly lady, who was wearing a red coat, falling to the ground. The alleged thief can be seen running off with the handbag, the Irish Mirror reports.

However, two members of the public immediately jump into action. A woman coming down the road stops the bag snatcher and grabs the handbag from her, while another man checks on the elderly lady before chasing the thief down the street.

"A female, 30s, was later arrested in relation to this incident and conveyed to Dundrum Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing."
