Mitch McConnell's return to the US Senate drew renewed attention in Washington on Thursday, 17 September, after the Kentucky Republican cast one recorded vote before being listed as not voting on two subsequent roll calls.

Official Senate records show McConnell, 84, voted 'yea' on a motion to proceed with S. 4668, the Protect College Sports Act of 2026. The motion passed 77-22. He was then recorded as not voting on two votes concerning the nomination of Kasdin Miller Mitchell to the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
