Elden Ring gets free DLC this week

At long last, Elden Ring is finally getting DLC – and it won’t cost you a dime.

On Tuesday, Bandai Namco announced the free Colosseum update for Elden Ring is coming out on Dec. 7, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This DLC adds numerous PvP modes where fans can participate in duels. Remember those massive arenas in particular areas, like Caelid? You can enter those now and fight others!

No word on how exactly this will work, but there’ll be options for one-on-one brawls and team fights. Check out the announcement trailer below to see all this in action.

“Come forth, warriors, and bask in the glory of the Colosseum,” reads the trailer’s description. “The Colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid will open their gates, allowing players to engage in battles such as duels, free-for-alls and team fights.”

While there’s been plenty of balance patches and tweaks, this will be Elden Ring‘s first batch of new content. Bandai Namco still isn’t talking about an expansion, but everyone knows it’ll happen eventually. Previous FromSoftware titles, like Dark Souls, have historically had DLC come out roughly one year after a game’s initial launch.

It’s no secret that Elden Ring is 2022’s biggest game. FromSoftware’s latest is leading Game Awards 2022 nominations and has already picked up several wins at the Golden Joysticks.
