Elden Ring is getting a DLC expansion titled Shadow of the Erdtree, the game’s developer has announced. Japanese video game developer FromSoftware dropped a tweet on Tuesday confirming DLC for the hit action role-playing-game is officially in the works.
It comes a week after FromSoftware and the game’s publisher Bandai Namco announced that Elden Ring has sold more than 20m copies worldwide. The 2022 fantasy game lets players control a warrior in a vast domain called the Lands Between, a place ravaged by war following destruction of the Elden Ring.
Players are tasked with restoring the kingdom and becoming its new Elden Lord. It was developed in collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, who took charge of the game’s worldbuilding.

FromSoftware confirmed the new DLC is in the works with a tweet accompanied by the expansion’s artwork. It read: “Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together. An upcoming expansion for #ELDENRING Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development.
“We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between.”

It will be the first single-player expansion added to Elden Ring since its launch last year. No details regarding its plot or release date have been confirmed.
The official Elden Ring website did confirm that Shadow of the Erdtree will be released on both current and last generation consoles and PC.
