Mexican wrestler El Hijo de Fishman has been arrested in connection with the death of 75-year-old referee Gerardo Germán Pineda, known in the ring as "El Búho," during a lucha libre event in Hidalgo.
Pineda died after being struck by a wrestling move during a match between El Hijo de Fishman and Máscara Sagrada NG at the Arena 11 de Julio in Mineral de la Reforma. The wrestler was taken into custody and placed under investigation for suspected homicidio culposo, a Mexican legal term generally translated as negligent or involuntary homicide. He was released hours later while the investigation is pending.
