Adhika Padmini Ekadashi 2026 Significance

Adhika Padmini Ekadashi is considered one of the most sacred Ekadashi fasts dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Its importance has been described in the Skanda Purana, where Lord Krishna explained the glory of this vrat to Yudhishthira.

Devotees believe that observing this fast with full devotion helps cleanse past sins and brings peace, prosperity, and spiritual growth. The Ekadashi that falls during the Adhik Maas is considered especially powerful for seeking the blessings of Lord Vishnu and attaining a place in Vaikuntha Dham, believed to be the divine abode of the Lord.

Wake up early during Brahma Muhurat and take a holy bath.

Avoid using soap or chemical-based cleansers while bathing on Ekadashi.

Clean the puja area and place idols or images of Lord Vishnu, Bal Gopal, Shaligram, and Shri Yantra on a wooden platform.

Offer Panchamrit bath to the deities and decorate them with yellow clothes, flowers, and tulsi garland.

Light a desi ghee diya and incense sticks. Offer sweets, fruits, tulsi leaves, and Panchamrit.

Chant Vishnu Sahasranama and recite “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye.”

Charity and helping the needy are considered highly auspicious on this day.

In the evening, worship the tulsi plant by lighting an earthen lamp near it and circling it seven times if possible.

Tulsi leaves should not be plucked on Ekadashi. Devotees usually collect them a day earlier and store them in clean water.
