Eintracht Frankfurt reveal a Rangers secret weapon as Europa League finalists' day saved by misfiring striker

Up and down Eintracht Frankfurt drew in their first match since setting up a Europa League Final with Rangers.

They earned a respectable result as they came from behind to hold Borussia Monchengladbach 1-1 after being on cloud nine on Thursday night following their victory over West Ham.

It's been a season of European glory coupled with domestic woe as they languish in mid table in the Bundesliga.

But Rangers will note an unlikely figure was the hero for the Germans, who have been capable of wins against Barcelona despite a wonky run domestically.

It was Monchengladbach striker Alessane Plea who netted the opener just four minutes in.

The home crowd was in no mood to feel down though with the Deutsche Bank Park raucous as ever even immediately after conceding.

And the fans' belief was rewarded when SGE hit back in the second half with striker Goncalo Pacienca unleashing from long range and leaving Borussia keeper Tobias Sippel with no chance – for just his fifth goal of the season and only his third in the league.

Frankfurt enjoyed long spells of domination but they were stretched on the break at times - something the Ibrox side will be keen to exploit in the Europa League Final.

They remain 12th in the Bundesliga.
