One person was injured in an eight-vehicle pile-up on the M4 near Bristol. The casualty, who has not been named, was assessed and treated by fire crews for minor burns.
The incident happened at around 8.20am yesterday (Wednesday, August 17) on the roundabout of junction 22 of the M4, the exit that accesses the M49 connecting motorway between the M4 at the Prince of Wales Bridge and the M5 at Avonmouth.
Fire crews from Patchway and Pill attended the incident, along with police and motorway officers from Highways England. A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a fuel spillage following a road traffic collision.
"One crew from Patchway and one from Pill attended the incident and found a collision involving eight vehicles. Fortunately, no persons were trapped and one female casualty was assessed by crews for minor burns.
“Crews then used small gear to make the vehicles safe. We were joined at the scene by police and highways colleagues,” they added.
