Eight Israeli soldiers have tragically lost their lives in the ongoing ground operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has characterized the situation as a 'tough war against Iran's axis of evil.'
The fallen soldiers have been identified as Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster, Captain Harel Etinger, Captain Itai Ariel Giat, Sergeant First Class Noam Barzilay, Sergeant First Class Or Mantzur, Sergeant First Class Nazaar Itkin, Staff Sergeant Almken Terefe, and Staff Sergeant Ido Broyer. They were reported to have 'fallen during combat in southern Lebanon.'
Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and emphasized the resolve of Israel to stand together and overcome the threats posed by Iran's allies. He vowed to ensure the safety and security of Israeli citizens.
The Israeli Defense Forces have not provided detailed information about the incidents leading to the soldiers' deaths. However, IDF Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued warnings to residents of southern Lebanon to evacuate for their safety due to Hezbollah's activities.
The military operation in Lebanon follows airstrikes that targeted Hezbollah leaders, including Hassan Nasrallah. The IDF has reported destroying over 150 'terrorist infrastructure sites' in Lebanon, including weapon storage facilities and rocket launchers belonging to Hezbollah.
The situation remains tense as Israel continues its efforts to combat the threats posed by Hezbollah and its allies in the region.
