Eight Black Friday items to buy in 2022 that could save you energy this winter

The cold weather has started to set in, and many people will be looking for ways to keep warm and save energy without breaking the bank.

Putting the heating on is the simple solution to warm up, but with skyrocketing bills, it's not always feasible - especially for families who are already feeling the squeeze.

But Black Friday is just around the corner. On November 25, thousands of shops take part in massive deals meaning products to help you stay warm could be massively reduced.

Manchester Evening News reviewed some of these, all of which aim to lower the cost of your bills this winter.

USB gloves

Martin Lewis advised people earlier this year to "heat the human not the home".

He published a guide on how to do this, and one of the products featured was a pair of USB gloves that are cheap to run at less than 1p per hour.

After connecting from the gloves to your USB port, they warm up as quickly as five seconds, providing heat to the knuckles and palm of the hand. They cool down just as quickly, reducing any potential hazards for those with young children at home.

Foot hot water bottle

This Aldi SpecialBuy helps to keep your feet warm. All you need to do is fill it with boiling water, much like a normal hot water bottle, and place your feet in it.

It's got a cosy faux fur cover and a rubber base to prevent you from slipping. There’s also a pouch where you can slip your feet inside and rest them on top of the hot water bottle, which is separated by a piece of material.

The heat lasts for roughly three hours, and it's easy to refill and keep the warmth going.

HotCup Kettle

If you work from home and find yourself boiling the kettle multiple times a day, this one could be for you.

The hot water dispenser boils the exact amount of water needed, which stops energy being needlessly wasted. Although this is quite pricey at £39.99, you might find it's a worthy investment as it could help you save money in the long run.

Hooded blanket

The popular Oodies have been popping up everywhere on social media, but they come with a hefty price tag of up to £89.

Instead, try opting for a cheaper version that does the trick just as well - for example on Amazon, hooded blankets can be bought for as little as £11.99, with shoppers saying they give "extra warmth on cold nights".

USB slippers

Similar to the gloves, these slippers work fast at warming up your feet. Just 20 minutes after plugging in, warmth is circulated all around thanks to heating pads in the soles.

They're currently on offer for £8.99 on Wowcher, so perfect if you want to grab a bargain before Christmas.

Aldi heated airer

Shoppers have been raving about this SpecialBuy recently, as it's much cheaper to run at 7p an hour compared to using the tumble dryer.

It's easy to set up and has 20 evenly spaced bars for you to hang clothes on as well as a cover to keep the heat in. But it also pushes heat out to the rest of the room, so it's handy to put in chilly spaces in your home.

Faux fur duvet

Having the heating on overnight can be pricey, so instead opt for a snug faux fur duvet to keep warm at night.

For a double set, it usually costs £59.99, but Wowcher currently has them on sale for half the price.

Air fryer

Air fryers have soared in popularity recently, as they've been found to be cheaper than using the oven for long periods of time.

Not only that, but they also use less oil and can cook foods much quicker, making them a kitchen must-have for busy families.

Costing around £150, they're more of an investment piece, but worth it if you want to save time and money on bills whilst cooking.
