At least 22 people were killed and 28 others injured after a bus accident on the Dahab-Nuweiba road in Egypt’s South Sinai governorate on Wednesday, according to the Health Ministry.

The accident occurred on the route connecting the Red Sea resort cities of Dahab and Nuweiba, a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors from around the world.
Deadly road accidents are common in Egypt, with authorities reporting around 6,000 fatalities in 2025, according to the BBC. Poor road maintenance and reckless driving are often cited as major causes of such crashes.
Last month, 15 people were killed and 32 injured in a road accident in Egypt’s Ismailia governorate.
