Liverpool’s players and supporters have been left amazed and angered after Joel Matip’s goal against Chelsea in the final of the Carabao Cup final was ruled out.
The Reds looked to have taken the lead at Wembley when Matip headed home from close-range following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick into the box.
Alexander-Arnold's delivery was met at the back post by Sadio Mane, who headed the ball back across the face of the goal for Matip to head home.
But as Reds players and supporters celebrated inside Wembley, a message was shown on the big screen indicating that a VAR review was taking place.
