Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is reportedly the 'main negotiator' between Ajax and the Reds as they look to agree a fee for Antony.
According to Dutch outlet de Volkskrant, the Ajax chief executive is leading discussions between the Dutch club and United as the two sides try and settle on a price tag for the 22-year-old. They report that usually Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Gerry Hamstra are the main transfer negotiators for Ajax - but the former United goalkeeper has stepped in to try and find a resolution.
The MEN reported on Friday that United were confident of agreeing a deal for the Brazilian, and this might now be aided by the help of Van der Sar. There is less than a week to go in the transfer window and although the club remain assured of getting a deal for Antony over the line, they might not like the transfer free needed to sign him.

Elsewhere, Spanish outlet Sport reports that Memphis Depay is 'waiting' for an offer to be made by United for his services.
They claim that Erik ten Hag has specifically requested the club sign Depay this transfer window. It is thought that the Barcelona forward has already rejected offers from 'mid-table' Premier League sides as he waits to return to his former club and once again play at Old Trafford.
The MEN also revealed that United are considering an offer for the 28-year-old as the future of Cristiano Ronaldo is still be decided. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is believed to have been looking for a move away from the club all summer as he tries to join a Champions League side - whether the 37-year-old will be replaced with Depay ahead of the September 1 deadline is still to be seen.
