Arsenal face a significant dilemma in the summer transfer window with reports suggesting that Bayern Munich are considering making a move for Gunners target Christopher Nkunku. The north London side have been linked with a move for the Frenchman for some time as they attempt to bolster their forward line ahead of next season.
With a number of their current options out of contract at the end of the season, Nkunku would be more than capable of filling the void left behind having caught the eye with his spectacular performances this season. The former Paris Saint-Germain trainee has netted an astounding 26 goals in all competitions this season, whilst having also contributed 11 assists.
Those numbers see him more than out-perform all of Arsenal’s current attacking options so it is certainly no surprise to see the 24-year-old on Mikel Arteta and Edu’s shortlist ahead of next season. There might well be a considerable problem should they attempt to secure his services from RB Leipzig though.

According to multiple reports in Germany, it is suggested that current Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are interested in making a move for the Frenchman with it looking likely that a former Arsenal flop could be having a major say on the club’s upcoming transfer business. Gunners academy prospect Serge Gnabry is out of contract at the Allianz Arena in 2023.
Talks over a new deal have stalled and it is suggested that they could be forced to sell the wideman sooner rather than later as opposed to losing him on a free transfer. Since arriving in Bavaria, the 26-year-old has established himself as a key player both on the club and international front.
Gnabry has netted 60 goals in 162 outings for Bayern, whilst also racking up an exemplary goalscoring record for the German national team. It is no surprise then to learn that there is also plenty of interest in his signature.
Chelsea have been noted as admirers, whilst the Gunners were also reported to be interested in bringing the winger back to the Emirates Stadium should he decide to wave goodbye to Bayern.
That then leaves current sporting director Edu with a tricky decision to make over who to pursue - Nkunku or Gnabry. Either deal is unlikely to be cheap with the pair valued at £121m by transfermarkt. Of course, Gnabry could elect to pen a new deal with his current employers and with Kingsley Coman having recently done the same, that would likely open the door for Arsenal to make a move for Nkunku.
Either way though, it is a considerable and potentially expensive dilemma for both Arteta and Edu to solve.
