Arsenal technical director Edu has sent fans a message on social media after the conclusion of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.
The north Londoners ended the season in fifth, two points behind local rivals Tottenham Hotspur as Mikel Arteta and Co came just short of UEFA Champions League qualification. Despite losing two of their last three league outings, the Gunners have plenty of reasons to be optimistic going into next season considering the core of their team is still extremely young.
Arsenal are also expected to have yet another busy summer transfer window after splashing more than any other team in the English top-flight 12 months ago, with a striker, central midfielder and full-back all likely to be targeted, football.london understands. Ahead of the transfer window, Edu took to social media to thank the Gunners faithful for all their support whilst also guaranteeing that Arteta's squad gave everything they could to try and end the season in the best possible manner.

"Thank you season 2021/22", his Instagram post read. "I have to say how proud I am to be part of this team.
"We went through different moments during the season, but in all of them we believed in what we were working on - especially in our players. I can guarantee there was never a lack of effort, dedication and commitment and hours of work from no one in the club to end the season in the best way possible.
"Thank you to the fans for your great support (as always). "I'm really looking forward to the season 2022/23. COYG" (Come on you Gunners.)
This comes after Josh Kroenke explained the blueprint the north Londoners have for the transfer market, claiming that he defers to Edu and Arteta when it comes to recruitment. Writing in the matchday programme for Sunday's clash with Everton, Kroenke said: "On a recruitment standpoint I will always defer to Edu and Mikel but I know they have a blueprint of the type of player and specific positions that we need to reinforce heading into the summer, so I’ll defer to them and support them in every way that we can in their pursuit of elevating the quality of the squad and also ensuring that we have the right mentality of player coming in.
"We only want players who are passionate about Arsenal Football Club. Players arrive from other clubs,, but are also elevated from our junior ranks, as is very obvious at Arsenal with Bukayo, Emile, and Eddie making such huge contributions this season.
"The academy has been a really bright spot that receives great focus at our club."
