For visitors to Edinburgh Zoo over the past few weeks, they will have noticed a new food and drink offering as they've been passing through.
In July, a brand new restaurant opened at the famous capital attraction, replacing the former Jungle Cafe and celebrating the wildlife conservation charity’s first animal species: the gannet.
With a focus on sustainable Scottish fish and chip dishes, The Gannet fish bar offers the country’s only ‘fully Scottish’ chip - grown within 50 miles of the zoo, chipped in Dunfermline and cooked fresh at the zoo itself.

The result of a partnership between the The Royal Zoological Society and Restaurant Associates, Ben Supple, director of engagement and business development at RZSS, said as the restaurant welcomed in its first customers: "Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, so ensuring we used local suppliers who share our values was incredibly important.
"From MSC certified fish to Scottish potatoes and award-winning batter from The Bay in Aberdeenshire, we want to present our visitors with some of the best of what Scotland can offer."
What's on the menu?
The main dishes include the likes of 'the bay batter' fish and chips, 'the bay' smoked haddock fishcakes, cullen skink and a buttermilk chicken burger.
Meanwhile there are vegan options such as vegan haggis and vegan 'fishless' wrap.
There are similar smaller kids portions, while sides feature local favourites, curry sauce and Edinburgh chippy sauce.
Furthermore, the restaurant is licensed and you can enjoy beers, wine and gin and tonic.
How much does it cost?
Main courses range from £12 for the main fish and chips to £6 for the cullen skink.
The kids options are priced between £6 and £7, while a portion of chips - without sauce - is £2.95.
What's the reaction been?
From feedback on the Edinburgh Zoo Facebook page, a couple of people have rated the new restaurant favourably.
One person said: "We went on Sunday and enjoyed it", while another user added: "Looks delicious, heard it's very tasty."
Amid the positive feedback, one diner said they wanted a bigger portion for the cost of the meal, commenting: "It's nice, however I would of wanted the fish to be bigger for the price I was paying."
Although one person praised The Gannet and the service, they were critical of the restaurant's facilities and said: "Lovely restaurant, lovely staff. Im just really disappointed that there is no baby changing in the male toilet, while there is one in the female toilet.
"It's not just one parent that should be changing babies, I think this needs fixed."
Opening hours
The Gannet fish bar is open to zoo visitors seven days a week from 11.30am to 4pm.
