Edinburgh Waitrose staff go viral after relatable 'young manager' comedic clip

An Edinburgh Waitrose store have gone viral on social media after posting a comedic clip of a scenario following the aftermath of a customer asking to speak with the manager.

All of those who have worked in retail or with the public will know that some days can be particularly challenging, especially when you're rushed off your feet and tricky customers just keep on walking through the door.

A customer asking to speak to your manager despite trying to explain the situation can be one of the most frustrating aspects of working in the industry, but the customer is always right.

Edinburgh's Comely Bank Waitrose store have recently started posting clips on the popular social media app TikTok and most are centred around some of the struggles of working in retail.

Whether it's mocking fellow colleagues or offering some amusing insight into what their job entails, the account has racked up a fair few followers and one of their more recent videos went completely viral, receiving over two million views and over 250,000 likes.

Despite only being seven seconds long, a Waitrose worker behind the checkout is asked to get her manager by an agitated customer, but instead of a terrifying figure appearing to defuse the situation, they film the store's current manager emerging from the back office looking like he doesn't have a care in the world.

Alongside the manger is the caption: "The 20-year-old manager, who is your mate, is about to quit and can't even do a refund."

The hilarious clip received 600 comments as users could more than relate to their own working environment and being mates with their manager as opposed to being scared of them.

One user in the comment section said: "Disturbingly relatable content from my student times as a supervisor at Waitrose."

Another added: "Hospitality and retail. The Karen's expect and older manager but instead they get someone in their 20s."
