A number of Edinburgh veterans gathered in the city centre on Monday as they launched this year's Scottish Poppy Appeal.
Members of the armed forces reflected on the "enormous sacrifices" made by many as they marked the official opening of the Edinburgh Garden and Field of Remembrance, which also marked the start of the annual Appeal.
Senior members of all three Armed Services, Brigadier Andy Muddiman, Lieutenant Colonel Lorne Ian Campbell, and Air Vice Marshal Ross Paterson joined forces for the launch, highlighting the importance of the remembrance period and outlining why wearing a poppy remains vital.
