Irvine Welsh has rated one of Edinburgh's restaurants as the 'best curry in the city' after dining out there this week.
The Trainspotting author was quick to take to social media after he visited new Pakistani restaurant Mera Lahore on Haddington Place.
Dining out on Thursday evening (April 21), Welsh shared a selfie at the new eatery, before praising the team for their top quality food and service.

Speaking on Twitter, he added it had beaten his usual favourites, writing:
"Just had the best curry I’ve had in an Edinburgh restaurant.
"Been meaning to try the new #Meralahore at the top of Leith Walk and it’s pretty damn amazing. Get down to 26 Haddington Place - you won’t regret it."
Only opening up on March 18, it seems the restaurant has already managed to get the seal of approval from diners all over the city.
Serving up authentic Pakistani dishes and curries, the team stated upon opening their doors that they would be bringing "authentic flavour" to the capital - which has clearly gone down well.

Ahead of their opening earlier this year, they said: "Mera Lahore, which translates as 'My Lahore' and refers to the city of Lahore in Punjab, Pakistan, awaits visitors at 26/27 Haddington Place and promises not only an exceptional dining experience but also a true live entertainment with its open kitchen, which you can overlook while waiting for your meal.
"The city of Lahore is famed for its rich food culture and traditional cooking methods using the finest herbs and spices, which separates it from other cultures' cooking."
