After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the capital's much loved Edinburgh Taxi Outing is making its return today (June 14).
The city’s cabbies take the day off to take children to the seaside in style, with today's final destination being the Archerfield Walled Garden in East Lothian.

The drivers spruce up their cabs before setting off, decorating their vehicles with balloons, streamers and anything else that they get a hold of.
Not only that, but kids are armed with water pistols and super soakers and need no encouragement to take aim at bystanders and pedestrians waving them past.
Today will be the 74th Edinburgh Taxi Trade children’s outing, which has been taking place since 1947.

Edinburgh Taxi Outing Memories on Twitter warned locals: "Just a heads up that the 74th Edinburgh Taxi Outing takes place today so there’ll be delays (and water pistols) in the City. We leave the Zoo at 10am then Haymarket, Princes St, Nth Bridge, Canongate, Abbeyhill, Jocks Lodge, Portobello and Joppa. Just wave and toot."
Traffic is expected to be delayed along the route, and bystanders are warned to walk the route at their own risk of being soaked!
