Edinburgh Street Assist volunteers find woman unconscious on first night of Fringe

A team of Edinburgh volunteers shared how they found a woman unconscious on the street on the first night of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Street Assist teams were out overnight in the capital attending to a series of call outs, with the charity providing first aid service, support and advice to those out late.

Working their first shift of what is known to be Edinburgh's busiest season, the team shared on social media that they went to 14 different incidents across the capital.

Focussing on the main areas of the city centre, volunteers stated they assisted in an incident after a woman was found unconscious on the street.

In addition, the team helped out with a shoulder injury and a diabetic woman, as well as keeping up patrols of the Meadows after dark.

In a post, Street Assist said: "The first night of delivery in #FestivalFringeMonth done.

"It was lovely to see how vibrant and lively the city centre was, with tourists and visitors embracing the acts and attending shows. Our team had 14 interactions last night, including assisting a diabetic female, an intoxicated male, an unconscious female found on the street and a female with an injured shoulder.

"We also continued our patrols of The Meadows, ensuring that any interventions with lone and vulnerable people were made.

"We'll be back out tonight at 10pm."
