Edinburgh set for two inches of snow an hour as '1,000km Beast from the East 2' hits

A freezing weather phenomenon is set to batter the UK this month with Scotland and Edinburgh firmly within its sights, weather experts are predicting.

Forecasters at the Met Office say the "polar vortex collapse" is heading to these shores with high-tech advanced weather modelling maps showing just what we can expect, reports the Daily Star.

And the capital looks set to bear the brunt of the big chill - dubbed Beast from the East 2. On Wednesday, February 22, conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly - with a mammoth snow dump of at least 5cm, or two inches, per hour in Scotland by nighttime.
