Edinburgh's 'worst' haunting to be examined in new Paramount TV series

A new streaming series is set to examine Edinburgh's 'worst' hauntings, almost 24 years after the terrifying occurrences took place.

Announcing their latest release this week, Paramount + told paranormal fans that the new show, 'Hauntings', would look into four mysteries across the UK in time for Halloween.

Interviewing a number of witnesses and people involved in the hauntings, the Scottish episode will re-examine a selection of incidents that took place in Greyfriars Kirkyard.

Claimed to have been caused by the spirit of former medieval executioner George Mackenzie, the unusual happenings began on Christmas Day 1998, when a homeless man is said to have broken into the tomb for shelter.

Alleged to have fallen on an assembly of corpses in the tomb, from then on a number of paranormal incidents were said to have occurred, from injuries to blackouts.

Exploring the claims, the show will also address how the activities hit a disturbing climax with a local graveyard tour guide’s flat mysteriously burnt down, preventing him from writing a book on Mackenzie, and exorcist Colin Grant sadly passing away shortly after visiting the tomb.

Outside of Edinburgh, other episodes will look at the Enfield Poltergeist, which allegedly haunted a house in London before being caught in tape, as well as the ‘Lady of the Lake’ in Georgia, who is claimed to have been involved in the disappearance of two young woman back in the 1950s.

Launching on October 28, all four episodes will be available on Paramount + UK.
