A number of major Edinburgh roads have closed as the Queen's body is moved from Balmoral to the Scots capital.
The City of Edinburgh Council have warned locals to expect 'significant disruption' in the coming days, as the body of the monarch is moved to the capital following her death on Thursday, reports Edinburgh Live.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement yesterday confirming that the Queen had passed away at her Balmoral Estate. The body will be moved to Edinburgh in the coming days, before heading down to London.
Expected to be taken to Holyrood Palace before moving to St Giles Cathedral, the council has closed a series of city centre roads to allow operations to be carried out.
The Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh has also temporarily closed. All parliamentary business at Holyrood has been suspended and will not resume until after a state funeral has been held in London - with a date to be announced in the coming days.
Speaking on Friday morning, officials shared a list of roads that will now be entirely shut off, including the High Street at Cockburn Street and George IV Bridge.
The council also stated that "further closures are expected in the coming days."
