Edinburgh retail park opening huge new Home Bargains store with 4000 cut-price products

Edinburgh is set for another giant Home Bargains store at a local retail park.

The council approved a planning application for the site recently, but Home Bargains have already agreed a deal with the landlord to open the store.

The Home Bargains will be located within premises at the retail park formerly used by Marks & Spencers and will have up to 4000 products, at discount rates.

The new store at Meadowbank Shopping Park is located just off London Road, and will serve a number of local communities, including Hillside, Abbeyhill, Meadowbank, Easter Road, Leith, Piershill, Willowbrae, Northfield, Lochend and Craigentinny.

The estate agent Savills completed the planning application on behalf of Home Bargains and they explained the company’s strategy.

A statement read: “The principle of the operation is to sell branded goods at the lowest prices possible and the business is unique in terms of other retailers on the market.

"The range of goods sold within Home Bargains includes the following: toys & games; health & beauty products; fragrances; clothing; pet goods; food & confectionery (non-perishables); drinks; and, homeware.

"Home Bargains therefore represents a cross-over between convenience and comparison goods retailing.”

The City of Edinburgh Council approved the planning application to allow permission for the sale of food at the site, at unit six within Meadowbank Park at Moray Park.
